Moneyball author Michael Lewis mourns the tragic loss of his 19-year-old daughter, Dixie Lewis.

The teenager and 20 year old Ross Schulz died in a car accident that occurred in Truckee, California on Tuesday, May 25th. Her family confirmed this to the San Francisco Chronicle and Berkeleyside.

“We loved her so much and we are in pain none of us have experienced,” Lewis said in a statement. “She loved Ross, with whom she died. She loved to live and our hearts are so broken that they cannot find words to describe the feeling. Her mother, Tabithaand me and her brother Walking aid and sister Quinn will find ways their memory can live in their absence. “

According to a California Highway Patrol collision report from E! News, Ross was driving north on State Route 89 when his 2014 Ford Fusion pulled into the south lane and hit a Freightliner semi-trailer head-on. Both Ross and Dixie, who ride passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the articulated lorry, identified by CHP as a 45-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
