In March, CBS announced that the CSI team was teaming up with a few new additions on a new sequel to the original series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (which premiered in 2000).
Wilhelm, Jorja Fox and Wallace Langham would revive their characters in CSI: Vegas. New cast included Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mel Rodriguez and Mandeep Dhillon.
CBS President Kelly Kahl Expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying at the time: “Twenty-one years ago we launched CSI and watched with awe as this new movie series brought an entire genre to market and became a groundbreaking juggernaut that continues to resonate around the world to this day Has.”
“We are excited to welcome the next generation of forensic criminalists to the CSI brand and to bring them together with the iconic characters from the past that we still love, including the extraordinary Billy Petersen and Jorja Fox,” he continued. “Crime-fighting technology has advanced dramatically over the past few years, and when combined with classic CSI storytelling, we can’t wait to watch this new CSI team do what it does best: follow the evidence . “
