Was Game of Thrones two years ago?

Technically it’s been 23 months, and the series finale did what it did on May 19, 2019 (although for so many aggrieved fans the show ended in spirit weeks earlier and the twists and turns of the series creators weren’t what they were wanted were probably first and foremost unrealizable expectations). But anyway…

Whether this heated debate just seemed to be raging yesterday or whether it now feels like GOT is in another life, hold on to your dragon horn because 10 years have passed since the series premiered.

On arrival it was well hyped (especially by existing followers of George RR MartinThe first episode of A Song of Ice and Fire), episode 1, draws a whopping 2.2 million viewers. But somewhere between “Wait, aren’t you brother and sister?” and Ned Stark lost his head, the word of the show, um, the charms spread like wildfire and eventually GOT broke from the fetters of an underrated genre to become an Emmy-award-winning, PhD-inspiring juggernaut-watched series ever .

And it all started 10 years ago. How does that feel?
