Walgreens Boots Alliance announced new top executives on Friday as new CEO Roz Brewer assembles her team and aims to reinvigorate the brand.
Brewer took over the leadership role in mid-March. She is the former chief operating officer of Starbucks. She took the job at a time when the drugstore chain is looking for new growth opportunities and trying to stay relevant as more people buy items and fill out prescriptions online.
Among other things, the company plans to open medical practices in hundreds of drug stores with the basic supply company VillageMD. It has revamped its mobile app and loyalty program. And new ways have been added to make purchases online quickly, such as: B. the pick-up at the roadside in just 30 minutes.
Brewer said the new hires will play a key role in this.
“You will be instrumental in helping our business continue to grow as we innovate and work to define the future of health and wellbeing in the communities where we serve for years to come,” she said in one Press release.
Here are the new dates that were announced on Friday:
- Danielle Gray becomes Global Chief Legal Officer of the Walgreens Boots Alliance. She previously worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, where she was Senior Vice President, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer and Corporate Secretary since 2018. She will report to Brewer and take up the position in mid-September.
- Tracey Brown has been named President of Retail Products and Chief Customer Officer, a newly created position. She has been CEO of the American Diabetes Association since 2018. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Experience Officer for Walmart and Sam’s Club. She reports to John Standley, President of Walgreens, and will take up her position in early November.
- Jeff Gruener will become CFO of Walgreens, the US segment of the Walgreens Boots Alliance, on Monday. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Walmart, including Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy and Vice President of Finance for Sam’s Club. In these roles, he helped oversee the financial side of Walmart’s health offerings, including pharmacies. He reports to James Kehoe, CFO of the Walgreens Boots Alliance.
