Talk about some sweet news!

Timothée Chalamet will play a young Willy Wonka in Warner Bros. and Roald Dahl Story Co.’s Wonka, his agent confirmed to E! News on May 24th.

According to Deadline, who first broke the news, the film will focus on the life of the beloved character before opening its famous chocolate factory. And while Chalamet’s appearances are always a pleasure, sources tell the outlet that the Oscar-nominated star will take his gig one step further by showing off his singing and dancing skills with multiple musical numbers.

Paul King will direct the film, Deadline continues, based on a script he wrote with Simon Farby. David Heyman, Luke Kelly, Michael Siegel and Alexandra Derbyshire are among the producers.

Chalamet isn’t the first actor to portray Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder played the chocolatier in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory and Johnny Depp took on the role in the 2005 movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The character first appeared in Roald DahlThe 1964 children’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
