The Met Gala is usually a picture-book glamor night, but for Selena Gomez In 2015 the pictures don’t show how she felt inside.
In a new episode of Vogue’s “Life in Looks” video series, the 28-year-old “Rare” singer has revisited some of her most famous red carpet outfits over the years, sharing some personal revelations in the process. While talking about the white Vera Wang dress she wore at the event six years ago, Gomez revealed that she was not in love with her body at the time.
“I sway a lot with my weight,” she told the audience. “I remember that night specifically that I wasn’t feeling good about my body.”
Fortunately, there was a silver lining for the then 22-year-old star on this momentous evening. “What was really amazing was that I actually got the opportunity to work on the dress that would fit my body,” she recalls. “I had such a good time sculpting this dress. I think we came together and built something really beautiful that really suits me. “
Ultimately, she admitted, “That was one of the moments when I thought I don’t have to be the 19-year-old shape because I am not.”
