BEL-AIR has found its new boy!
On Tuesday, August 31st, Peacock announced that the West Philadelphia star was “born and raised” Jabari banks will take over Will Smith‘s iconic role of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in the prequel series.
The re-imagined restart takes the show’s famous theme song literally: “Now this is a story about how my life has been turned upside down and I want to take a minute, just sit down, I’ll tell you, like me the prince of a city called Bel-Air became … ”
Smith personally videochated Banks by surprising him with the news of his casting. “From the bottom of my heart I want to congratulate you,” Smith said in a touching clip to Banks. “You have the role of Will on BEL-AIR.”
Banks said in surprise, “I’m so ready. I’m ready to bite.”
