Queer Eye For the Straight Guy OG cast Jai Rodriguez Exclusively revealed on E! News’ Daily Pop on July 8th that he was originally “shocked” when he found out about the restart of Queer Eye with DP guest co-host Bobby Berk. Though Jai and Bobby will both turn 40 – Jai heralded his big birthday with his Fab Five family on the June 15 episode of E! S Reunion Road Trip – the two makeover experts represent different generations of queer eye fandom.
“Queer Eye Worlds Collide!” Bobby joked about his “uncle” Jai.
But Jai wasn’t always ready to give up the queer eye’s rule. “This is the real tea,” he drank. Presumably in 2018, before Netflix restarted, Jai received a phone call in the middle of his cabaret rehearsals.
“‘We’re bringing Queer Eye back,’ and before they could even breathe, my Puerto Rican butt threw me on the line and said, ‘Oh my god, that’s so amazing because honestly I’m in my thirties now … have so much more to offer … ‘”Jai recalled saying before being informed of the new line-up.
“You’re already envisioning your house in the hills,” he joked. “I was literally shocked for a second.”
