Just three days ago, the award-winning actor was the topic of conversation for his new film Stillwater, which premiered on July 30th.

Considering the film is loosely inspired by the 2007 assassination? Meredith Kercher, Amanda Knox talked about why she wasn’t a fan of that premise.

The 34-year-old, who was acquitted of Meredith’s murder in 2013 and 2014, said she felt the project misrepresented her real-world experiences following the tragic death of her roommate.

“Is my name mine? My face? What about my life? My story? Why does my name relate to events I was not involved in?” she asked on a Twitter thread posted on July 29th. “I am returning to these questions because others continue to benefit from my name, face and story without my consent. Most recently the film #STILLWATER.”

“By fingering away my innocence, my utter lack of involvement, and erasing the role of the authorities in my unjustified conviction, McCarthy strengthens my image as a guilty and untrustworthy person,” Amanda continued. “And with Matt Damon’s star power, both of them are sure to benefit well from this fictionalization of the ‘Amanda Knox saga’ that will ask many viewers, ‘Maybe the real Amanda was involved in some way.'”

Matt, as well as others associated with the film, have not commented publicly on Amanda’s comments.
