Layshia Clarendon feels euphoric after top surgery to remove her breasts.

The WNBA star, who identifies as trans- and non-binary, took to Instagram on Jan. 29 to share the profound emotional impact the surgery had on her. The New York Liberty security guard shared a photo of himself on a shirtless hospital bed and wrote in the headline, “At 10:00 on January 13, I hugged my wife in front of my surgery building, went inside and took a deep breath … The day was finally here. The day I had to undergo a top operation !!!!!!! “

Named one of 50 LGBTQ + Heroes Fighting for Equality by Queerty magazine last year, Layshia continued, “It’s hard to put into words the feeling of seeing my breast free of breasts for the first time and seeing my chest the way I’ve always seen it and feel a sense of gender euphoria as opposed to gender dysphoria. ”
