In June, the gymnast’s dreams of competing in the 2020 Games were dashed when a knee injury cost her a spot on Team USA. However, the setback did not prevent Laurie from having a second Olympic experience. The 21-year-old stopped by E! S Daily Pop on July 15 to reveal that she is traveling abroad to provide her expertise as a commentator.

Describing the “first gig” as “a little weird,” Laurie said Victor Cruz, “But at the same time it should be great fun.”

Looking back at the moment, you and your teammates Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian Beating gold in Rio, Laurie admitted it took her some time to understand the extent of the Olympic champion.

“I knew it was a big deal, but I don’t know if I was really registered,” she said. “Although I look back on it now and think it was huge and I just couldn’t understand the small one.”
