The third time is a spell!
After a lot of anticipation, Ashanti and Keyshia Cole It started the first Verzuz Battle of 2021. The R&B Divas originally had a personal battle scheduled for December 12th, but it had to be postponed after Ashanti tested positive for coronavirus. The battle was then postponed to January 9, but as COVID cases increased, Verzuz decided to push the battle back, but did not announce a new date at that point. However, the series announced that the fights would become virtual again, just as they were when the series began at the beginning of the lockdown.
The long-awaited battle finally took place on January 21st, but it started over an hour late and prompted fans to go online and create memes. When the fight finally began, the R&B veterans blessed the fans with hits like “Dumb”, “I Should Have Cheated”, “Mesmerize”, “Heaven Sent”, “Rain On Me” and “Last Night”.
