Influence Katie Sorensen faces two misdemeanor charges after accusing a couple of attempting to kidnap their children.

A Sonoma County Attorney General’s spokesman tells E! News that mother of two, née Kathleen Sorenson, was charged on Thursday April 29th on two offenses of providing false information to police.

The two allegations stem from Sorenson’s allegation that Sadie Vega-Martinez and Eddie Martinez attempted to kidnap their two children at a Michaels craft store in Petaluma, California on December 7, 2020.

The influencer documented the alleged kidnapping on the Instagram account @motherhoodessentials and claimed in two videos that have since been deleted that the Latino couple followed her and their children through the store. She also said the two described their children to others on the phone and tried to grab their stroller.

Shortly after Sorensen posted the viral videos on December 13, Petaluma Police completed their investigation into their allegations. At the time, they said in a press release, “To date, the investigation has produced no evidence or witnesses to confirm the account provided by the reporting party. The evidence gathered has helped support the account provided by the couple from the store.”
