The sports world has lost a rising star.
Athletics sprinter Cameron Burrell, who was an NCAA Division I Champion and former athlete at the University of Houston, died on Monday, August 9th. He was only 26 years old.
The late athlete’s father and head coach at college in Texas, Leroy BurrellHe confirmed his son’s death on Tuesday. However, Cameron’s father did not reveal any details about his death.
“My family is very sad about the loss of our son Cameron last night,” Leroy said in a statement on the University of Houston athletics page. “We are in deep grief and ask all of our friends, the extended family of the University of Houston, and the athletics community in the US and abroad to allow us to meet with our closest family and friends.”
He added: “We are deeply affected and thank everyone for the prayers and support. We will forward more information as soon as it becomes available. “
