Iconic Today shows weather man Willard Scott died. He was 87.

Scott died on Saturday September 4th. He served as a weatherman on the NBC series for more than two decades and was known for wishing a happy birthday to viewers who turned 100. He was followed by the current co-moderator Al Roker. Scott is survived by his wife Paris Keena and his children failure and Maria from his previous marriage to his wife Mary Dwyer Scottwho died in 2002.

“We lost Willard Scott, who died peacefully at the age of 87, surrounded by his family including daughters Sally and Mary and dear wife Paris,” Roker tweeted. “He was really my second father and is where I am today because of his generous spirit. Willard was really an #icon on the show.”

Scott was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1934. As a teenager, he worked as a page on NBC radio station WRC in Washington, DC. He graduated from American University with a BA in Philosophy and Religion.
