For while Snow may have been king, it was Leslie’s family who claimed true royal ancestry – her mother Candida Leslie is a direct descendant of King Charles II– and pretty impressive properties. 12th century Wardhill Castle where one of Leslie’s brothers Wilhelm, one of her five siblings, and his wife Sarah live all year round – with towers and spiers and around 700 hectares of idyllic landscape with a view of the Bennachie Hills.
And although the popular wedding venue they chose for their reception has regular ceremonies in the great drawing room and front yard, Harington and Leslie, both 34, went the traditional route and booked Rayne Church to take their actual vows.
Harington came in first with his groomsmen and ushers, got out of his cab and straightened his three-piece suit before heading to the 18th-century stone community. An hour later – after the entire Game of Thrones cast plus the couple’s pals Marcus Mumford, Malin Akerman and husband Jack Donnelly and about 80 other guests were walking up the gravel road – Leslie entered.
Her ear-to-ear smile almost drew the focus from her long-sleeved, floral-embroidered ivory dress, cathedral-length veil, and crown of white flowers Sebastian Leslie. “Rose looked relaxed and very happy when she walked in.”
